As your child grows, they go to a primary care physician. For the same reason, your child needs a primary dentist to provide specialized care of their teeth, gums, and overall pediatric oral hygiene as they go from infant to teen. Pediatric dentists are specially trained to address the concerns of a child’s mouth and teeth, including address any apprehension or worry to create a positive experience for the child so that they are afraid to come back.
As a part of the care you’ll receive from us for pediatric oral hygiene in Gilbert, we’ll treat several issues children can encounter as they grow including:
We will also help to teach your child healthy brushing habits so that they can combat issues likes dental decay and gum disease head-on. Brushing with a soft-bristle brush twice a day and flossing once a day can prevent cavities and keep your child’s teeth and gums healthy and strong.
When your child is dealing with dental pain, whether from pediatric grinding, a broken tooth, or another issue, we’ll treat not only the discomfort, but also the cause behind it. If your child has a toothache currently, treat this as a dental emergency.
To soothe the pain, use a warm salt water rinse to clean the area and rinse away any food or debris trapped between the teeth. You can also apply a cold compress to ease facial swelling. Then, contact us right away to schedule a dental appointment. Additionally, if the tooth is broken, retrieve any fragments and get to our office as soon as possible.
We do! When your child suffers from nocturnal bruxism, or tooth grinding, you can make an appointment with us, and we’ll schedule them for a visit where a specialized mouth guard will be made. Often, children do outgrow the habit. However, if they continue long-term it can cause permanent damage and that’s why we’ll want to use the night guard to protect their teeth.
